AZ Public Schools tax credit contributions
Tarwater field trips and extracurricular activities are funded by your tax credit contributions not PTO funds. PTO is not involved with the Tax Credit Funds. If Tarwater doesn’t get enough tax credit contributions, unfortunately these amazing experiences don’t happen. A tax credit is a full refund, not a deduction.

School Traditions
Meet The Teacher
Opportunity to meet the teacher, get supplies list, find out how you can donate to the classroom (supplies, time, etc.) and purchase spirit wear for the new year.
When: July
Toro Spirit Fridays
Wear your Spirit wear shirts, or Toro colors (blue & silver) on Fridays!
When: Fridays
Pumpkin Decorating
A tradition that is fun for the entire family. Each grade has an assigned time where the kids will paint their pumpkin with the help of family/adult. Chat with your student(s) about design ideas in advance, bring the necessary items. Many families do research and do creative pumpkins, many others do very traditional pumpkins. All are welcomed!
When: October
Fall STEAM Festival
School-wide Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM) festival, food, games, inflatables, music, family, friends and lots of fun. We ask each family to sign up for a 1hr volunteer spot – look for sign-up notes a few weeks before the event.
When: October / November
Fine Dining
It's dress up time. The students enjoy wearing a dress, tie, polo, nice shirt, bow in hair ... dress to the nines!!! The experience is a treat for the students to eat "like a family" with their friends. The Student Council dresses as waiters and help serve the meals. This is a wonderful tradition at Tarwater.
When: November
Jingle Jog
A fun run/jog/walk around the school neighborhood – longer route for older kids, shorter route for younger kids. Kids dress up in color based on grade (Red, Green, White) and accessorize with winter themed hats/hairbows/etc. Volunteers and Staff are along the route to assure safety of the participants.
When: December - right before Winter Break
Spring BBQ & Art Walk
A lunchtime picnic lunch in the School courtyard, specific times for each grade, with Art Masterpiece Art showcase around campus. Bring a blanket, chairs, or something to sit on. Seating and shade can be a premium so come prepared for an outdoor picnic.
When: April
Teacher Appreciation Week
A weeklong celebration of our awesome TEACHERS and STAFF. A theme for the week along with suggested daily gifts will be sent out. Please do NOT feel obligated to follow this suggestion. You are welcomed and encouraged to show your appreciation in any way you choose. Please note that ALL gifts are appreciated, especially the hand written notes of appreciation. Sign-ups for food donations, $ donations and hands-on help will come out a few weeks before the event. Financial donations may be tax deductible.

When: The first week in May, National Teacher Appreciation Week
